Focus Your Gaze

(Acts 1:11)  Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.

What is going on in your life today? It may be a mixed bag to say the least. You may be facing some great trial. You may be anticipating a tremendous opportunity. Regardless of what the day may bring your way you can be assured that in Christ, you will not deal with it alone. We can live with the promise of Jesus Christ that He will never leave us nor forsake us. He is with us to empower us to live a dynamic life for Him.

In our verse today, the angels challenge the disciples of Jesus essentially asking them, “why are you standing here gazing up into heaven? You need not be concerned about where Jesus went, but be assured that He is coming back just like you saw Him leave.” In verse 8, the Lord had just re-given His followers His commission to reach the world with the Gospel. And it seems the angels are wondering why they are standing around when there is so much to be done.  Regardless of what we may be busy with today in the process of life, may we be mindful of the blessed privilege we have to represent Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord to a world that desperately needs Him. Let’s focus our gaze.
